Hi all
A while back i asked for some recommendations for a good Upholsterer.
After speaking with a few i went with Nick from Capt Nunzio..
I highly recommend him and his work.. He came to my house picked up and delivered my seats
The price he gave me was the best out of everyone else and the work was better than the original..
Nicks a genuine guy and thanks to Jeff or the recommendation

Pic's as soon as I re install in spring!!

nick did some upholstery work for me a few years ago and i was very satisfied as well.

I have been using Nick for canvas and upholstery for a long time and he never lets me down!

Great guy that always stands behind his work, no questions asked!

It is almost that time again!

I need to get most or all of my cockpit redone - it is time. I am going to call Nick this week. What ever happened to the pics? How are the seats holding up?

This is a very long winter! 65 more Days!!
 
I am restoring a Porsche, it amazes me what these interior guys want to do this work. Had a budget for 3k to restore the interior. My budget was right on target to quotes I got, actually came in at $2700.00. Thank you Al Gore for inventing the internet :)
Long story short, gonna do this myself, all new carpet, new leather for the front seats, my cost is $1100.00 Time to do this, less than 4 hours. You tube has all the videos to do this. Would have gladly paid 2700.00, just got a queer feeling with all the morons I had quote me, independent fuchs with an attitude. Really, I rebuilt a turbo, and tranny, plus a bunch of other stuff, you got to be ****ing me with what they do!!

Walter I'm sensing a little resentment:)
I'm having my entire cockpit upholstery redone on my boat, I'm using the same company that did my canvas last year. I asked them to do it as a winter project and I was very happy with the price and the work they have done for me. I haven't seen the finished product as of yet but I did stop in to see how they are making out and it looks great so far. When I launch the boat I will bring it to their marina and they will reinstall everything. I can't wait to see it all put back together!

Recovering seats is easy, doing it well isn't. A quality job will look like it was done at the factory for a long time, but a job done by someone less experienced will quickly look saggy and ill fitting.
The Youtube crowd probably doesn't update their posts after the seats have some time and mileage on them.
Sometimes it pays to spend a few bucks to have someone who does it all the time take care of the seats.
Door panels, carpets, etc., are really easy to do correctly if you take your time. That's a good place to save money.
Re-covering and properly restoring the seats isn't something you want to cut corners on.
I feel the same way about headliners as I do about seats, but your Porsche probably doesn't have one.
For a good job on the seats (not the cheapest) you probably can't go wrong with Automat in Hicksville. I had another place do the seats from my GTO years ago and they still look good, but I don't think that guy is around anymore.
Since then I've been to a couple of open houses at Automat with a car club I belong to. I was very impressed with their work. Several high end restorations in the shop the times I was there.
If I were to do another set of seats I wouldn't hesitate to carry them in to them.

What year and model Porsche are you restoring?

Bought my first Porsche last year and I love it! I even put winter tires on it so I can drive it during this depressing boatless winter!

I am restoring the poor mans Porsche, 1980 924 Turbo. It will never be worth as much money as I will put into her to get her where I want her to be. When I meet my wife she had one, was an awesome car, she came from the rich side of the tracks, me the poor side:). As we developed a family, this tiny car did not work so we sold it. She was ok with that and I promised her, I would get her this car back someday in the future. There were only 825 of them sold here in the the United States (924 turbo) in 1980, so it has been a challenge to find one. The biggest challenge was to find one identical to hers. I found that baby in Wisconsin , had it trucked to me and hence the restoration process.
The body on this car is mint, the paint (original) shows better than any new car I owned. Motor is solid. The rest of the car, well hey, it is 34 years old, needs restoration. I have this baby in my garage, like my boat, I know everything about this car, and am doing all this work on her. I have every manual, including dealers manuals on this car, plus have a network of local Porsche gurus.

So into doing this, I will have something no one in the USA will have, but more important to me, I kept my promise of 28 years ago.
 
I'm a little surprised you didn't upgrade her into maybe a 944 or even a 911. I loved my Boxster they build great cars that are fun to drive someday I may buy another Porsche but I have never owned the same car twice no matter how much I loved them.

I hope your wife enjoys her new toy!
 
Walter: My hat's off to you for the love you're showing for your wife and her dream. I sometimes wish I could have some of the cars I've owned and sold years ago. Enjoy your ride with her as she drives her restored Porsche down the roads of Long Island. Hy

It was not about an upgrade, but more about what she had and loved. Believe me, I look at this car and project and say, "really" , why not just buy her a "new porsche" :) This is what she wants, no interest in a new one. It is quite a blast ripping this thing apart, it is amazing the quality and construction compared to American cars the same vintage. Me, I am looking at buying a Porsche Cayenne turbo, used of course :)
 
Class move Walt. I can't say I saw many 924 "Turbos". I always liked the 924's, but could not afford one back then. There is nothing like driving a Porsche. I also love the way they look, but the driving experience is unmatched. Here's a couple pics of mine:
