VACATION!!

Hogan,

FYI, the place next door has good food and excellent Mojitos.

The next place over with the deck over the water (after the charter boats) was pretty good for lunch.

Mike/John,

You both have PM's.

Thanks Kurt!

Although after spending the morning in the ER unable to walk Pattie and I are reassessing our trip plan.

On a positive note ambulance rides can be fun.

I'm not sure what this is about but I truly hope you are OK and wish you my best. I'm sure it is tough to have to make a decision that may change plans on a much anticipated vacation but you need to put you health first if that is in fact the problem. You can always plan another trip but you need to be healthy to enjoy it.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the kind words Jonathan & Dave.

We have decided to push on as the ankle is holding up pretty well. Amazing progress in the last 24 hours. I've been told I'm pushing it but I'll only push as hard as I feel I can handle.

Glad to hear you are doing OK and the trip is on.
Several years ago I injured my leg about a week before a planned boat trip, I ended up traveling with crutches. I had another couple traveling on board with us which helped pick up some of the slack ie docking and washing the boat at each stop. I stilled enjoyed the trip and have lots of great memories of the vacation, I hope things work out for you as well.

Left Cape May at 9:00AM yesterday, pulling into Baltimore Marine Center at 3:30PM. Long ride, but the water was flat and navigation was fairly easy (other than missing the entrance to the C&D canal).

This is a huge marina with a great tiki bar, pool and health club. Lots of activity in Canton.

Ate jumbo crabs last night, more today...

Off to Inner Harbor today by dink to check it out.

Weather is perfect, boats all running fine. rommer's leg is on the mend!

You may see BillyK, they are down that way now.

Leigh, there are a bunch of pix on FB. I need a better internet connection to post them here.

Starry Night & Relentless left for Herrington Harbor this morning in the rain & fog. rommer & Hogan spent another day in Baltimore. mixman recommended an Italian restaurant, which was excellent! Kurt, sent you a PM, sorry we couldn't hook up, but thanks for all the info.

Off for Herrington in the am.

Mike install a decent WiFi unit in your boat they more than make up for marginal marina WiFi systems.

Great Trip so far. I think our favorite place is Herrington Harbour. It was worth the trip down. The pool, facilities and food are fantastic.

For those of you still following:

Herrington Harbor is a beautiful marina, but the town was like a ghost town.

We got hit with tremendous thunder storms last night, but it cleared by the am and we were off by 7 AM. Ride back up Chesapeake was fine, once into Delaware Bay, hit HEAVY rain and near zero visibility for about a half hour - not fun at all.

143 miles today in 6 1/2 hours, burned 205 gallons of diesel. Nice thing is that it is only $2.69.9/gallon here. And dockage is $2.00/ft.

We are now back at Schooner Island marina in Wildwood, watching the weather for a break to head north.

The Chesapeake was nice, but it's a hell of a long way to stop at just two marinas, I'd do it again, but better planning is needed.

Mike we're glad this is all working out for you folks. When we took Freedom South in '08 we sat at Deltaville a while, and also at Herrington. We left on a narrow window from Deltaville for Norfolk, and got beat up a bit. Certainly Summer has to offer some better weather than November!
One place that stood out was Point Lookout near the Potomac. Great anchorages in there also. Very scenic but we have no idea what's nearby.

More pix!

I'm glad things turned out well and good times were had. The next trip, let some of us MD people know when you're in the planning stages. Heck, buy a "Guide To Cruising Chesapeake Bay" and you'll find you could spend months here with never more than a couple nights in the same place. The newest versions are usually around $40, but things don't change that much. You can buy a 2008 guide off Amazon now for $4:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/1884726135/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

Note: I think I've bought from that seller before to ship to friends we made in the Abacos. They ship very quick and the guides are brand new. Get 'em while you can!
