Help!!!

I recently replaced the vacum tank on one of my vacuflush systems (model 506) because one of the hose fittings became brittle from old age and snapped off. Since I replaced the tank, the system is leaking, i.e. pump is cycling every 5 to 10 minutes. There was no leak before I replaced the tank. My vacum tester shows that the system is holding vacum all the way to the hose fitting on the back of the tank. The toilet bowl is not losing water, yet the system is losing vacuum. What is next that I should check for? Would the funnel assembly on the bottom of the toilet be the likely culprit? Need help please.

if it happens sicne your replaced the tank, i'd suspect either one of the hose connection or the vac switch seal on the tank... you should be able to hear the vac leak and find it.

Thanks for the comeback. I cannot hear the leak, have checkec all of the fittings and refastened them. When I put the vacuum gauge on the outlet of the tank that goes to the toilet, it holds vacuum. Where else do you think I should look?

if you disconnect the line from the head at the pump, put a male fitting on it and reduce it down to a schrader valve you should be able to pressurize the line back to the head. with about 10 pounds of pressure you should be able to put a soap test on all the fittings and verify that the leak is on the pump/tank side as you suspect. if it is on that side, have you loosened and retightened the fittings at the duckbill side of the pump?

Yes Vic, I have retightened all of the fittings. What is a schrader fitting and where do I get one?
That sounds like a good idea to me. Do I use something like a bicycle pump to pressurize the system? The last time I checked the system it was holding vacuum all the way to the fitting on the tank that connects to the toilet. Thanks for your help.

A Schraeder valve is a spring-loaded air valve. They're the same as the air valve on all the tires on your car, where you add air when they go soft.

before you chase other problems make sure the bowl hold water,. leaking flush valves are not uncommon.
