I can't believe it but my marina and my friends there have known I fell on some pretty hard times late last year. Be it stress, health and lack of wealth issues it just seemed like everyday I woke up there was a new problem. I was reluctant to engage the marina because my boat had a fair amount of damage and I wasn't sure if the insurance money would cover it or if I should just give up the boat in search of a less expensive hobby. Well the marina had already started the major repairs and the boat will be launched by next Friday. I really don't want to say much other than I never realized how many true friends were there for me and my wife at the marina. The marina manager and all the employees told me I had done so much to help the marina and the marina community that they wanted to pay it back. They would only accept the cost of materials and -0- labor. The bow rails were all straightened as much as they can be until the fabricator comes in 2 weeks and replaces the entire bow rail system. Again I was told just pay for the materials. I really don't know what to say to the people and management at the marina? I started with shaking everyone's hand and thanking them. My faith in the human race has been restored at least when it comes to the boating community that surrounds my wife and I.
I hope that I wake up tomorrow morning and once I pinch myself I can realize this wasn't a dream.
What else can I say?
Bill

Thanks Allen, it was put to me this way today the concept called passing it on.
I have never done any good deeds in my life expecting a payback in the form of special treatment.
However it sure makes me feel good to be the recipient of good will.
I almost got emotional thinking about todays events.

Great news!!!

Some call it karma... Good in, good out... **** in **** out. :) obviously in your case it s the first part!

That is great news Bill. I am very happy for you that you can continue to enjoy your passion.

Thanks guys I was floored by the actions of my friends that operate the marina and those that have done labor that want nothing in return. A few of the guys talked to my wife and were genuinely concerned about my wellbeing. I have been very negative about life in this country and the free for all attitude that many people exhibit. I can say I never saw this coming and the generosity of all involved has given me a different perspective on life.

Bill good things happen to good people! I'm extremely happy to hear that people have been so generous to you. In the few times we have spoken it was clear you are a kind and generous person it's no wonder why friends would come to your rescue. I hope you have a great season!

Thanks Dave, I enjoy talking with fellow boaters and lending a helping hand or hopefully sound advice. When we were communicating about a month ago via e-mail, I really didn't think I would have a boating season this year. Now I know I will be able to cherish another season on the water with my wife. The marina gave me 2 CD's documenting the damage to our marina and the boats. Frankly I can't believe the marina is back up and operating given the mess they had to deal with. Everything appears to be new and improved. I have a long hard week of work ahead of me this week. I will be working near the Delaware Water Gap Monday and Tuesday, then it's off to Lanham Maryland this Wednesday and Thursday. Now I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. Christmas will be next Friday night! Nothing beats sleeping on the water for relaxing.

Bill I am very glad to hear of this and happy for you. As you know my parents live in your immedate area, hit very hard. There are good people out there, you are one of them - what goes around comes around. Got your VM, thank you, will call you.

Bill, good things happen to good people. You have given plenty to people that you didn't know, never asking or expecting anything in return. It's just your nature. I'm glad that we got to meet and spend some time together. Have a great season!

Pascal, Dave, Bob, Mike & Bruce thanks for the kind words. The kindness and concerns of many people I have met through boating be it this board, people we have met in person and friends at my marina have given me a renewed outlook on life and society.
Some other good things the marina has done they didn't charge me for winter storage, winterizing, launch fees, this years dock fees or electric.
At the same time I don't want to be a freeloader. As my situation gets better
I don't intend to be a leech.

I feel blessed by the generosity shown to my wife and I.
Thanks,
Bill

Next time you travel to Lanham give m a call. I live 10 miles from there. We can have a beer. I'd suggest this week but I'm in Texas at Ft. Hood.

The continuing project in Lanham was canceled for this week. We are waiting on some critical amplifiers that were not in stock. I'll let you know when this gets rescheduled. I usually stay in a nice hotel about 10 miles north, the place they park all the police cars at.

Bill, that is great news! I'm very happy you get WirelessOne back in good shape and I hope you can spend serious time aboard her again. It's also great news that your marina holds you in such high regard. That is truly awesome!

I am working on a project down by FedEx field now. It will be that way for the next several months. Go by there just about everyday. Ditto on the call me up we can have a beer when your here.

I received a call last night the boat's in the water. We will be heading to her in a few hours. I visited the boat while they were painting the repaired bottom and she is going to need a good cleaning both inside and out. After I get in her I'll make my "to do" list.
