When does Watch Hill marina open?

I think it is the weekend after the SS3/MM Sea Ray party. So it should be 5/19. Most years it has been the week before the Memorial Day weekend.

You may be right Dave. What they have done though is they have reserved all of "C & D" docks for there party. so if you have any wide beam boats, you may have a problem getting a slip.

Contrary to what SS3 may have told some people, the marina is open to the general public this weekend. Nobody is allowed to reserve the entire marina.

Dave......I don't quite understand the reason for this post ??????????

Don,
The following quote is from another post.

"Yep, you should call her because everyone else at SS3 who is going had to send her the money of $75.00/nite/person to cover the restaurant dinner & breakfast plus anything else. The dock fees are supposed to paid directly Watch Hill when we arrive but I think you need to contact her because it is definitely a SS3/MM closed event and Watch Hill will not be open to the public or anyone else who wonders in."

I thought when I read this that SS3 was telling people that Watch Hill is closed to the public. Sorry if this is not the case.

What caught my attention was that I don't understand how such an event can even be scheduled. It is a clear violation of the reservation policy. Don't we all play by the same rules?

Dave........ Your right. Rules are rules....and we are all expected to play by the same rules. The LAST think any of us would want....is to end up on a banned boat list at a local Marina.

That post was NOT posted by SS3/MM....but by a fellow R/O just giving his interpretation of the event. Regardless if its a open or closed event.....the fact is.....it IS a Long Island boating event....and should be welcomed by all of us. I have to commend SS3/MM for all their effort to promote boating and different events thru out the season.....while other boat dealerships just sit and watch. The last thing any of us want is a dead boating industry ....and to watch our hard earned $$$$ go down the toilet.
I think its being done early enough in the season that....missing one weekend at Watch Hill.....should not effect anyones boating season.

I appoligize......because when I first read your post....I thought it was an attempt to sabotage the event.....and I know as a boater that would not be your MO

As far as violating any reservation policy.......You would have to take that up with the Dept of Parks & Marinas

Now let the party begin.........

Don,
All joking aside, you are right. My friend keeps his SeaRay at SS3 and they promote many events throughout the season. In my mind, anything that promotes boaters to use their boats is a very good thing and it takes alot of work to organize and put things together.

It's great for the people who would do it anyway (like me, you and others here), but its also great for those who otherwise would leave their boats sitting at the dock.

Just my .02

Don,
No apology is needed.

I will admit when I read the above post that the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. Reserving the entire marina is very different than part of it (especially at this time of the year). But honestly, my anxiety was not intended to be directed at any of the members here. I hope it was not taken as such and if so, I apologize.

With regard to it the statement that "it is a Long Island boating event....and should be welcomed by all of us". Well...We we have a difference of opinon here, but that's ok.

As for the rules, yes I do get bent when they are not followed. The rules are there to make sure everyone gets a fair, secure, and relaxing use of the park. If you were turned away because somebody was give special treatment I think you might feel differently.

In any case, to those of you who are going, enjoy!
-Dave

Dave.....It may be a directed event to a specific boat brand.......but still it gets people thinking boats.....new boats....trade ups......non boaters get the bug. It helps the boat economy....Its good for all of us.

The Aquapalooza at Zachs in July will be more of a open to the public type event....and maybe we should all try to get together there.

In any case.....we will take & post pictures for everyone to see.

everyone enjoy the weekend............

Don,
Searay, Surfside has the best party's, I went to the Block Island Party in 2003, best party I ever went too. I was hoping the 36 flybridge would be a boat I liked.

Have a good time guys...

Walter

Thanks Walter....Looking forward to having a good time.....but with Rob 2 boats away it may be tough.......:) :)

Don, Dave…..I have to say, I agree with you both… but that would be a contradiction, so maybe I agree and disagree with you both… hell I agree with myself, but then disagree later, being a Gemini twin, this happens often.

Bottom line.. I can’t go this weekend :-( But hope next week to go if I can get the wife to agree…

WOW.............What a party.

Dog Daze.....Just 4 Play.....Bright Ayes....

P.S. We even had Alliens visit......Walter & Dave stopped by for a drink.

Great time had by all....

Don, u can be my wing man any day......

Great job by alot searay captains in that fog friday..... No fair weather boaters in this bunch!!!

Phil, Gina & Bruce as always did a great job!!!!!!!!!!!

Ps I think its very sad that someone from here ( boatered ) would go out of there way and write a letter to the parks service trying to derail a boating event that has only good intentions. The guys are excited for an event so they share there excitement with fellow boaters.
The outcome is maybe now u dont share ur great boating stories. Or ur great destinations ...

PEOPLE SUCK.... sorry some people reading this suck!

( Sometimes this place "LICC forum of boatered" ) really gets stink all over it !!!
