Where is the water?

Got that covered!

(Almost got some of us banned from Champlins!)

Please don't miss understand my frustration I love being at SPBM I just wish I wasn't dependent on the tides to get in or out. I love my new slip but I do wish my boat would float in it. I guess you can't have everything. I have been here for about eight years and have enjoyed everyone of them in fact more each year. I just didn't consider the draft issue when I bought this boat. This is my fault not the marinas, I enjoy the people here and I don't want to move to Haverstraw unless it becomes a big problem.

How low does it get? I am in the first row of G Dock, but only draft maybe 30".(probably only 24") Will I be ok with the drive up?

Depends if you are trying to move the boat out of your slip or not.

You may have a problem a dead low. the golden rule is... no come or go 2 hours before or after low tide..

When I was on the main stretch of G-Dock (between the fingers) with my 24' Chaparral, I had 18" under the boat at low tide.. That was 5 years ago...

I had a 31 rinker on G dock for 5 years, water was never an issue, if it was to low we would hang out at dock and have just as much fun with everyone. Great group of people, alot of people left and most came back to SPBM. They missed us.

I never really worried about tides, now I may have to. We'll have to see how things go.

BTW - did they get the channel markers out yet. I have been in and out 3 times and would love to know if I was running in the channel.

Well with those channel makers you still won't know if you are in the channel. They are not even CLOSE!!!! Really amazing how far off they are.

BTW - what a great day on the water. Spent most of the day rafted up to a crew from Pennybridge and had a really gorgeous night on the hook with an almost empty Croton.

Hey Warren, Jake and Riley miss Buddy!

Rommer when will you be back at the dock for Bible study? You missed yesterdays session.
I'm happy to say that I continued to float even at low tide Saturday I also blow out my slip as the tide was going out. Moved a lot of mud I tide up tight and ran it in forward until I didn't see any mud blowing around.

Alas, I may have to miss today's meeting as well Dave. 90 degree heat at the dock or 90 degrees on the hook at Croton. Tough choice! ;)

The channel does not start till you go in and out a few dozen times.

But putting a marker in so that a person is directed to 2 feet of water is just wrong!

Low tide today fell at a pretty bad time 6:30 PM. We got a late start due to the lawn mower being broken and finally got out there early afternoon. Had a great day on the water relaxing and doing some fishing. I caught a really nice rock. Don't ask me how, but I hooked a rock. My son managed to lose his bait at least 3 times so there was something down there.

Coming in at around 6:45 was probably not my best decision. Coming in was ok, but my depth gauge stopped functioning when it hit 2.5'. The transducer is probably 6" below the water and not adjusted to figure that in. Based on the fact that there are some pretty big boats on the same dock as me but the other side, I figured I could get in. Was I wrong. As I came to the turn into my dock, the mud started swirling up and then we stopped. Forward or back mud everywhere. I shut down the engine and attempted to pull myself to the dock, but I couldn't move it. I ended up having to raise the drive pretty high using the trailer button just so I could pull it over. I eventually got it into the slip and tied up. It measured 18" at my dock, not very happy about that.

Lesson learned - Try and listen better. 18" is 18" no matter how big the boat.

BTW - Nice meeting you today Rob. My kids were envious of your daughter's mist shower.

Next time you might want to stay out an hour longer.. For us with Inboard the rule is 2 hours before and after low.. You haveing an outdrive that you can trim you should be able to get away with an hour to and hour and a half... Glad things worked out...

By the time I was leaving for the day, the tide had already come up some. I was talking to some guy on my dock, (I'm horrible with names) and he said earlier in the week, they came out and adjusted some lines on boats, because the tide dropped so low and there were some boats sitting on the bottom. The lines were tightening up because the docks were still dropping.

Mike nice meeting you and everyone else this weekend. Looks like I found a nice place.

Yeah - found that mister hidden in the boat and it worked wonders to keep her occupied for a while.
