5260 First Look

It has a Midnight Lace like bow but lacks any of the the other Fexas classy features.

Did anyone see the program Beyond Tommrow on tv that did a test of the IPS drives vs Outdrives? They were even done on Regal boats, The 4460 i Beleive. It was pretty cool. The IPS blew away the other Boat. The program was on the science channel.i Think it was episode #7

IMO, the hull looks too large out of the water. and to that end I think Regal could change the gel coat job to make a smaller dark hulll or multiple colors to break up and make the boat look sleeker. It sticks high out of the water, but visually, with a different gel coat pattern they could likely minimize the bulky look.

I think you're right Jeff. I REMOVED color, and sure enough, she looks even higher and bulkier.

Nice work SLW, can you put a dark blue kingplank on it now?
It might be enough to set it off and make it appear more sleek on the water.

BTW, there is a IPS vs V drives test on the well known boattest dot something site on 45' Formula...

I have the 5th 5260 overall hopefully being delivered in the Oct-Nov Timeframe. I have been aboard the first boat and spent a couple hours on it as I was deciding what options to go with. I can honeltly say I love it. IPS is now the only engine selection as such the engine room is very roomy specifically when you lift the main hatch which lifts the garage everything is very acessible. additionally it is easy to move around if you use the cockpit hatch. It is high but the benfit is you have very good sightlines and visibility and unbelievable height throughout the cabin.

IMHO the value is outstanding as I have priced new and used (late models) 52+ express crusiers for comparison as well as I can be impulsive and have had to fight the urge to upgrade as while I have been waiting for thsi boat for the past 18months.

what is the ballpark price for the 5260? I've not seen anything from regal on pricing. :)

http://www.regalboats.com/pdf/Regal%205260%20Press%20Release.pdf for pre-production pricing.

The base price does seem to be pretty competative for that size class. I wonder how much the cockpit A/C add on costs though. Seems that would be absolutely critical to have.

And Hooterize the women!!!!

BBBWWWWWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

I orginally ordered my boat without cockpit A/C but Regal called me just this week and pointed out to me that I was the only one who did not order the boat with this option. They just wanted to make sure and they suggested it would be a great addition even if used occasionally and for resale. The cost includes upgrading the generator form 10kw to 13kw roughly $3.5k plus the cold cockpit option $7k total little more the $10k. I had been thinking about it so I went ahead and had them include.

Is it just me, or does it seem VERY light for a 52 footer? 30,800 some odd pounds seems light..SeaRay520...38,000, Formula 45 yacht, 33,000, and Marquis 40SC 28,000 (12' smaller and only 2,000lbs?, and the Marquis ain't heavy!)

You guys are a tough bunch, I like this boat.

I would see if they would do the AC in the cockpit only, afterall if you are not going to run everything in the boat at the same time the 10kw is more than enough power.

kida, I agree with you, hooterize those women!!![8D]

As for price, the base price was $675K. Fairly loaded, it looked like it was coming in around $800K, so significantly below a similar SeaRay that was priced around $950k. But I am sure that after the preproduction pricing the price for the boat will go up. But for now, the price is quite cheap versus relative comps, IMO. And knowing Regal, they will do a pretty decent job. But as pointed out, it is light versus other models, in part due to the IPS engines.

Roughly $275K difference between pre-production and MSRP in fact Jeff!!!! (Per the pre-order price sheet and subject to change)

I have one thing to say about the new Regal ... COME ON LUCKY NUMBERS!!!!

IPS may save a couple of thousand pounds...even at 33, 34k lbs that's very light. light = better performance / economy but when you get into a chop, you're going to have to chop the throttles.

Jsheaffer, how big is the helm area AC? make sure it's big enough otherwise it's going to be a waste .. i can't imagine anything under 20 to 25k btu making a difference on a hot day.

the other thing i'd check is water capacity.. the UK site listed around 120USG which is ridiculously small for a 53 footer (unless it's a sail boat :-) )

pre production price is definitely very attractive !

I had a 2005 3860 and currently have a 2006 4460 and even though they also are on the lighter side I have been very impressed with their handling in any type of seas. The Hull form and beam I think are a better inidcator of how a boat handles sea conditions. I recently ran my 44 in 4-6 seas at 24 mph for 2hrs with 5 people aboard. it was a very comfortable ride and both the 50ft crusiers and searay with me could not keep up. In their defense the Crusiers was a sedan and the searay was underpowered but still the ride was great.

So After being aboard the 5260 and getting a sense for her hull in addition she also will draw close to 46" I think that she will handle as well if not better. However tests will bear that out.

The cockpit AC is 32000 BTU's
As the water capacity it is 125 gallons. I have 100 gallon capacity on my 4460 and with a wife and 3 teenage daughters it was fine the 125 is a bonus. Even though I cruise a lot I do not spend a lot of time on the hook in a remote area so water is never really a problem.

Again I hit the value my boat with options is less than 750k I have priced out searay, sunseeker, viking and other in this range and you can't touch for less tha $1mil .

John

32k should be ok... just.

yes, hull shape is critical to rough water handling.

you've trained you crew well to survive on 100 usg water tanks :-)

at this price, it's a great value for a 50 footer, no doubt. good luck.. keep us posted. as critical as some of us maybe, it's always intersing to get real feedback vs teh glossy rag garbage.
