Almost Pulled the Cover Today...

Looks like next weekend is cover off day for us.

With a week of rain coming I figured we might as well wait.

We don't need no stinkin' licenses!!!

You should need a license only if catch something.

If you have no fish in the boat, why would you need a license? They can only bust you if you have fish.

This is just another money grab (tax) by our great government(s).

In Florida they can bust you if you have fishing gear in the boat and no one has a license. We always get checked several times when we are there. I'm not arguing with the FMP(Florida Marine Patrol). I'll leave that to someone else.

Unless the law has changed, they can arrest, confiscate equipment and fine for having a pole in the water. As someone said before fishing does not mean having possesion of fish. Several years ago my sister-inlaw was busted for holding a pole in her hand and she had no licence. Her boyfriend had left to get more bait, he did have a licence. No fish were caught. The state was going to cofiscate all equipment. The boyfriend showed up and only a warning was giving.

What if you throw high explosives in the water, and when they blow all the fish out of the river, you have them land on your boat?

I like the way you think Mike.

Oh I can't wait to see my 9 and 11 year old children get arrested for putting a rod in the water. "Son, drop the rod your comming with me". But hey we just got the best health care plan ever. Take the money from that and pay for the license.

wait till the very best immagration reform happens....oh yea

I think if your disposing of old explosives its ok but if they are fresh its against the law.

How about if you use a drop line and hook but leave out the pole?

Can be anyday now, Im all finished and waiting to go in the water..

Yea but no rain. Maybe that will become the trend, no rain weekends!

No rain sounds good but it's too cold for bottom painting. I can pull the cover but not much more. The clock is ticking now.

Let me try and sum this all up. No more fishing, more sin taxes on things like soda (mixers will be more expensive), fuel prices rising, taxes going up.
Sounds like we should stay at the dock and do shots.

Bob
Your children don't need a fishing license until they are 16 in NY. You won't have to post bail for them this year for fishing without a license.

Is that as long as he is licensed? I believe you are considered fishing even if they hold the rods. Sorry.

Fishing Regulations
Remember, everyone 16 years old and over needs a valid fishing license to fish on any of New York's waters. While children do not require a fishing license, adults who assist a child in taking or attempting to take fish, are considered to be fishing themselves, and therefore need to have a valid fishing license.

So if I stop and help my friends kid at the dock by putting a worm on her hook I can be fined for fishing without a license?

Soda tax, salt restrictions, fat rules and now licensing requirements to put a worm on freaking hook...

What a bunch of crap!

John
Before you help your friend's child bait a hook, look around and make sure the DEC agent isn't around to see you. I've seen them writing up some of the guys fishing off the Haverstraw Marina parking lot. I agree much of this is a money grab what with surcharges on fees for life's necessities like car registration and the like. A few years ago the pesticide business registration fee for my business was $150.00 for three years. Now it's $900.00. I.don't know how you can fight it.
