Channel Club

Yes Atantis... I'm booked. It sounds like a Mom and Pop marina. They do not communicate via VHF. Only by Cellular Phone. It's funny how many times we've all walked by the marina. If for nothing else, I'm fueling up at The Channel Club...

We stayed at Atlantis two years ago, they have a nice pool, free breakfast food, and desserts at night. They had two brand new weber gas grills you can use.

Just don't walk into the clubhouse bare footed!

We had stayed at Atlantis for a few years in a row.
It is a private yacht club and we got in good with the Dock Master.
He would call us in the beginning of the season and let us know when the Yacht Club had trips scheduled.

We would go down there with 5 or 6 boats.. It is a great facility.. Huge pool, Gas BBQ's that you can use, a Club house with nice bathrooms, showers, FREE ice, an entertainment room with big screen TV, pool table, books and board games, and best of all. The put out a great spread for breakfast FREE and another for dessert.

They really treat you like one of the members..

We stopped going because the dock master had gotten into some trouble and was fired. For a year or two there they were not taking transients..

Glad to see they are back..

I think you will really enjoy it.

Can't wait to fuel up at with 89 Hess at the Channel Club. WOO HOO...

Tell me about it! I'm up in Essex CT for the week, and gas is $4.56 here. OUCH!

When we stayed at Essex Isle Marina they were giving a 15%, yes percent not cents discount which based on your price would net out to $3.88 per gallon. I wonder if they still do that. IIRC they sent their yearly letter asking us to come back and I THINK it still said that but not sure.

To all that recommended Atlantis Yacht Club. Thanks... What a great marina. Everyone there was so nice; they made us feel like we were part of there family. It is a must to stay. The membership serves dessert in the evenings and breakfast in the mornings. Tennis courts, a fairly large pool that is not as crowded as the Channel Club. A beautiful club house that has a TV room and a computer room for the kids. What a great bunch of folks. We're heading back down for Labor Day Weekend. :)

Glad you had a good time, I saw you pass and heard you on the radio, tried hailing you back on 16 but didn't hear back.......

Yes, That was me... Just wanted to reach out to you while passing eachother. We were heading down to Monmouth Beach. What a beautiful day for a run down to the NJ shore.

Yes it was, river was great, my return ride yesterday was the best ever, 28 knot cruise 80% load, made it from Croton to Liberty Landing in 1 hour 6 minutes (does not include idle time in and out, just cruising time).

What a great weekend.

I hope next weekend holds up like this one did, going back to the CC.

I returned from another fantastic trip to the Channel Club on Monday (8/18)There were a couple of big storms on the way down(8/11)and actually had to ditch at Alpine Boat Basin for about an hour. After that the sun came back out and we were on our way again....until we got halfway between the Narrows and Sandy Hook, big storm. Not much I could do so I zipped up the enclosure and flew by instruments, scared the bejeezus out of the admiral. It only lasted about 15 min. When I got about halfway down the Shrewsbury, my cell phone rang, it was Dave, the dockmaster at the Channel Club to see if we were ok and what our e.t.a. was!I couldn't believe it, how nice is that?! Dave is a guy who takes his job very seriously (but always with a smile and a friendly chat)and works very hard to keep the CC as nice and inviting as it is. Maintaining that pool alone on a hot busy weekend day is a huge job. I know Dave reads this thread, and he's thrilled that the CC is a favorite here. A lot of us can go anywhere but we choose his place.I'd like to say "thanks" to Dave and his crew for keeping the Channel Club our consistantly favorite destination.

I have to get down there in late fall and grab a palm tree, before Dave chainsaws them down!

Is that what they do to the palm trees? We were asking the bartender but she didn't know. What a shame.

Always looking for a good place to go that's a reasonable distance. Would be going there for Labor Day if they had an opening.

Is it a worthwhile fall destination?
