FUEL PRICES

If you follow the ebb & flow of the river you could get there without any fuel at all. Might take a while thou.

I like the bike idea, may have to try that. Do they make oars big enough for your boat?

I succefully used SeaTow to save fuel last year! Although, I don't recomend it...

There's definitely a bonus there. Particularly when it comes to diesel. With the additives you have less concern with algae in the diesel.

Stopped and checked the fuel prices at Haverstraw today. Both gas and diesel are $2.99 a gallon. Tells me the gas is fresh and the diesel is left over from last year. Becareful!

Mike, If you need a Sail, I would be more than happy to make you one for a beer. It would be worth it just to see you rig it up on your boat.
[:-jump]

I do like the idea to call sea tow. That would be the cheapest way to Croton.

Question: Would it be cheaper to tow my big boat with the little boat to Croton or vise vesa?!?!?!?

I also heard on the news today that paddle boats were starting to make a strong come back this year. [:-spin]

Diesel is a much more stable fuel than gas and hangs onto its potency longer. But I'd be hesitant to be the first one to flush out the lines to the pump.

Agreed Dan but I already have a tankful of the fuel from last fall so I'll wait for a fresh delivery! Will take a few weeks to use up what I have anyway. Boat is currently disabled since I decided to send the tach/temp/oil gauge combo units out for repair. Got tired of doing the Faria Rap!

Panco jumped another $.25 this week, it's up to $3.74.9/gallon.

Any news on Haverstraw?

White's Hudson River Marina is $2.98 gas, $3.19 diesel until their next/first delivery. Hopefully I will get another $200 worth this week and see where the guages lie.

It would be cool if the gas were in Lexan tanks so we could see how much the ethanol stratifies over the winter. Or maybe it is better we don't see what we are buying, we will know soon enough!

You guys got it pretty good. gas is over $3.50 a gallon down here.......but then I get to use the boat 12 months a year!
Hope you all have a great season!

Is that with the discount he provides to the local marina customers? Last year he was cutting the fee by $0.10 per gallon....

White's went to $3.299 yesterday (Saturday) for gas, not sure what diesel is, will check by Tuesday, need to fill the tanks for next weekend.

$2.95 for Diesel at Liberty Landing on Sunday. I think gas was $3.59??? Not sure.

Looks like some of the shut down refineries are coming back online. Perhaps there is some hope for prices to slip back a bit.

Oil Falls to 6-Week Low as Refiners Increase Gasoline Output

By Mark Shenk

May 7 (Bloomberg) -- Crude oil fell to a six-week low and gasoline plunged on speculation that U.S. refiners will increase output of the motor fuel before the peak-demand driving season.

Gasoline supplies rose 100,000 barrels last week, the first increase in 13 weeks, according to the median of 13 responses in a Bloomberg News survey. Refineries probably operated at 89.3 percent of capacity, up 1 percentage point from the week before, the survey showed. The driving season begins with the Memorial Day holiday at the end of this month.

This is a game that the oil companies are playing. Run the price up, the public takes a while to notice and get really angry, once they get angry, lower the prices. In a few months, do it again.

SImple game. They are making HUGE profits at our expense.

Do any of you have a problem finding gas at any gas station anywhere???? Ever???? Any shortages???? Anywhere????

This is all BS greed at its best, they are really sticking it to the American economy.

WIth that said, I do own oil stocks.

I always found it interesting that the FEAR of a disruption can drive up the prices. Really f'd up!

Does anyone know when the NJ state parks open. I think it is called Edgewater and alpine boat basins. They seem to usually have significantly lower prices (ie 50 cents/gallon) versus Haverstaw Marina. Anyone know anything particularly negative with those state parks. Probably not as much traffic so might sit in the tanks longer. If I am going that way I usually try and fill up there.
