Haverstraw Marina

Actually Rob, while we pump out regularly, several folks don't in spite of the fact that RYB has a great pump out. As I recall they replaced it early in the season last year due to wear.

Actually, peeing off the swim platform is legal.

As long as the waste has not been in any sort of receptacle you can discharge LEGALLY directly in the water. Now you may have an issue with indecent exposure but thats a horse of a different color.

I'm Irish so unless someone had a telescope on the boat 50 yards from me, we're covered.

I usally just pump out when I fuel up, I can usally time when I need fuel and need a pump out run.

If everyone waited for their fuel tanks to run down before they pumped out..............

Now think of that in the sense that if the boat is being used, fuel is being burnt, and needs to be replaced. Most times I purchase fuel more than I need to pump out. That is due in part because I have my guests use the head on the hard before we leave the dock.

Most hard core regulars that anchor in Croton or Bowline fill the holding tank up 10 times before they drain the fuel tanks once.

Are you trying to say some of us are full of sh!t Jonathan? ;)

What I really wonder about are the dock queens that spend weekends at the dock but never go out. How do they empty their holding tanks??????

I know a few of them. They leave the dock and go to the SPBM pump out, and are back in the slip 20 minutes later. A major waste of many nice boats. The head gets sat on more than the helm seat.... Not the reason I own a boat.

Jonathan, your "friend" is an inconsiderate, thoughtless A**HOLE!!!

As is every town up and down the Hudson that sees fit to dump their waste treated AND untreated in the river.

Not that I condone dumping boat tanks in the river, but I'm not convinced that it ever was that big an issue if at all. Sure the thought is unpleasant but there are much bigger issues when it comes to water quality.

The "friend" in question happens to be a friend of yours Mike but I'm not naming names.

John, the only time untreated wasted gets dumped in the river is when the treatment plants get overwhelmed, as during a major rainstorm.

When a fellow Hudson boater used to pump out as he came back from Croton, Gina & I gave him hell. If a friend of mine is still doing that, then name him/her and we will yell at him/her.

There is no excuse for dumping in the river.

I don't rat out friends Jonathan. I also don't find Mike's comments above appropriate or called for. There is no reason to use names in a public forum for something that may or may not have happened years ago.

You really surprised me with that one Mike.....

It's very lazy and selfish behavior to dump into OUR river instead of going to the proper pump out facility. My kids swim in the river. Our tax dollars fund "North River" water treatment plant in Harlem designed to clean up the Hudson.

The waste treatment plants do not dump untreated waste into the Hudson on a normal basis.

I agree with Mike, Assh*le is the appropriate name here.

Shame on you "fellow Hudson boater". (edited by moderator) I'm glad you changed your ways.

I think I just threw up in my mouth at the thought of people dumping their holding tanks in the river. There must be a pump out facility every mile on the hudson. This is completely uncalled for not to mention illegal.

Years ago it was not illegal nor uncommon to pump overboard. Today it is. Personally, what someone may have done years ago is irrelevant to me. What they do today is what counts. The law says you pump out unless more than 3 miles off shore. Just to be clear, thats what we do. Most other people I know do as well.

PS Remember it's not the marina it's the friends and people you have a good time with.

Well yes and no.. We have a great time with friends from many different marina's when we go out on the hook or on a trip.

I just prefer to come and go on my terms and with as little Wear & Tear as possible.

How many of you guys from SPBM have had to have prop work done because you hit the bottom coming in or out of the marina?

I think everyone is missing the best marina on the Hudson. BAMAR!

It is peacefull quite cove with no waves. What could be better.

Oh Yeah, every time you leave or come in you have to have everyone duck, put the bimini down, and time it in betweeen waves to get under the bridge without hitting it. There are no concerns over depth, only height.

WOOPS, FLipsky a 30 footer is probably 3+ feet to tall, we won't let you in, your loss. You should buy a nice 16 footer so you could slide in.

MJK

I think the object is to move up not move down in size.. BTW, how is the pool, gas dock, pump out, ship store, game room and resturant over in BAMAR?

OUCH, somebody can't read well or misses the joke in there. Yes I miss out on the pool, gas fumes, sewage smell, 6 Atari games, and of course the burnt down restaurant. I do however enjoy the price difference. I think that was pretty un called for.

How were the yellow cornflakes this morning?

MJK

Listen,

I was trying to be sarcastic in a funny way.. I am sorry if i offended you.

P.S. I am not a big fan of cornflakes...
