Haverstraw vs. SPBM vs. Patsy's

How badly does it (the water) rock & roll at Patsy's? From the pictures it appears to be somewhat protected.

All the marinas on the bay will rock, only Haverstraw and Minisceongo YC are protected enough on the westside of the river.

Patsys does have a seawall but waves do get by it as they do at SPBM.

We have always been at the entrance to the marina at the seawall opening and I must say the rocking was never an issue for us. And we bow in to take advantage of the million dollar view of the river.

It has been made clear to me that I'm in the minority in that I'm happy it SPBM so please don't base your decision on anything I have said I not sure as to why I'm seem to be alone but I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to mislead people into doing something they may regret. I have kept my boat at SPBM for 10 years and it has been through some changes including new ownership many are not happy with the changes and others like myself have been unaffected and remain happy. This being said you should visit the marinas and speak to people at the docks and decide for yourself. Whatever you decide you are going to have to make the decision yourself. What I have found is people are usually happy where they are or else the leave. There is nothing tying any of us to the marinas we are in and yet we come back there must be a reason.
whatever you decide I wish you the best of luck and hope you enjoy where ever you end up.
I hope this is clear to all where I stand.
If there are others that agree with me I would love to see some support if not I'll just take it that I alone and that the marina days are numbered and I would hate to believe this.

When I left the channel at SPBM today, I had 4,6' under the hull, pulling into PBM 15 minutes later, I had 5.8' under the hull...

Time to recalibrate the depth finder Hogan!

Great info, thanks! One question. Is PBM Patsy's Bay Marina or is PBM Penny Bridge Marina?

:)

Hogan left from Patsy bay and went to Penny Bridge Marina. It seems odd that there would be such a difference in water. I got it he burn so much fuel the boat was lighter therefore it appeared the the water was deeper. Now that's a scary thought.

PBM is Penny Bridge Marina.

I was really (pleasantly) surprised that we had that much more water.

I've enjoyed my past 3 years at SPBM and am looking forward to season number 4. There's a great group of people over on D dock, and we all have a good time. Hopefully SPBM'll reduce the "amateur hour" office stuff, as that's a frustration that can be easily eliminated. They seem to be getting a handle on that, though.

Skinny water is always going to be a challenge, though. We're pretty lucky that it hasn't really impacted our boating...

And Ben, we draft 36" with our drives down

I'm looking forward to another season at SPBM. See you soon George.

George I'm glad to see I not alone. It's been made clear to me that if I'm happy I must be misguided. I hope that is not true. I have suggested if people are unhappy they should leave maybe everyone left would at least be happy. The concern is there might not be many people left.

I would like to believe this is not the case, maybe it's just G Dock that is unhappy, most people I speak to on D are a least content.

Where ever any of you end up I wish you all the best and hope you have a great season.

I love it, 'D' dock vs. 'G' dock wars!!!!

I have been at SPBM for 16 years. For the first 14 I was on C dock, and last year moved to D Dock. I am happy there. I will say however that I know people who are at Patsy's Bay and Pennybridge and they are also happy. These are 3 fantastic places to enjoy boating, with the only downside being low water. Most of the people who stay at Haverstraw say that they enjoy the deep water, and who would not. They do not rave about the friends parties and helpfull staff and owners. Once a choice is made I am sure you will be happy, and if you are not next year move to a different choice. People change all the time from one to another and then sometimes even return to the initial choice as they find that the grass is not always greener, or should I say the water is not always deeper!!

Wecome to boating..
