Rain, rain, go away...

Current moving at 20 to 25 kts. Hop O Nose had 5 boats break loose.
Sherrif caught them before they hit the river and deployed their anchors.

Haven't heard about Kingston yet - I was supposed to be going tomorrow.
With the trees I've seen going by today nobody should be out there. I hear Saugerties is not
good and the coast guard is heading there to look after things (they have a station there).
I will post more pix later.

The Rondout is high and muddy, but we've seen it much worse. Just a few trees coming down. No visible damage at RYB, Certified or Kingston Power. Haven't seen any docks float by from upstream.

Those pictures are making me uptight anyone been to SPBM is everything OK there. Is my boat still floating?

Those are some scary pictures but I just got to see more like a train wreck I can't look away.

The flow has abated (though still cranking) and the tide is coming in (that's good).
I should be able to post more pix later tonight or tomorrow.
There are torpedos in the river. Anyone thinking of boating in the upper Hudson valley this weekend should reconsider.

Dave your boat looks OK to me. Several boats came loose but the staff tied them up again. One of my dock neighbors lost his dock box. It was screwed down but it came apart. I pulled out 2 sections of the box that were floating. The first right lateral on G dock broke in two about two slips from the end. Nothing moved. The pilings held the dock in place. It looks like one side of F dock is broken by the pumpout or something hit it. I saw two of the staff on the C and D dock but I don't know what they were doing. No fishing today.

Sorry we were so late to post. Deb got the gist out earlier. I would think the Hudson is LOADED with crap from here South. The debris line coming out under the old bridge into Kingston was stout. We walked over it on the way to Armadillo for dinner.
Several large chunks of trees and assorted timbers heading out to the river. It looks worse than a Spring flood from a debris point of view. If you are coming up here tomorrow keep your eyes open and try to stay out of the debris line.
Other than that things look ok, but with a bit of current running. According to the NOAA water site it looks as though the creek has crested and is on the way down. If you are coming up call and make sure the place you are staying is up and running ok, but I suspect they will be.

Sierra please check your link, it doesn't lead to much of a video. When we drove by the Eddyville dam it was about 3pm. High tide is about now. We're hoping everyone is ok on the creek.

Sorry. I've been posting from my iPad and iPhone today and it copied the mobile version.
I've re-posted the link. Let me know if it works.

Looks good now. Thanks for posting that!

I feel sorry for the owners of those boats in the video. Seems to be the boats didn't break free of the dock; the dock broke loose with boats still attached. We got a fair amount of rain in south central PA; about 4-6". My boat is on a trailer which is stored at a marina. The river is only 3-4' lower than the land and I don't think the river's water level came up more than a foot or two.

If anyone is on D-dock in SPBM can you just take a look at "Party of Five" I can't get down there till later. I knew we got a lot of rain, but WOW this is incredible.

Ken thanks for the update.
Mike I'm heading there in a little while just as soon as I check out my trailer.
I'll call you if I see anything wrong.

This unfortunately is not the first time that this has happened on Catskill Creek. I can remeber being up there abot 8 years ago during a hurricane whose name I can not remember and a very similar occurance took place when the storm surge released a number of docks from their pilings. Whole docks were floating down the creek, towards the river with 7 and 8 boats still attached to the docks.

Floyd? That would have been in the Fall of 99 I think. It made a mess of things everywhere up here.
