SPBM

Does anyone know, I just spoke to someone that said in Haverstraw Marina, they take 20% on all outside labor and 10% on warranty work. is this true?

To all that know Beverly and Eddie Walsh at SPBM
Eddie is very ill and in the hospital.
We pray he gets better soon.

wciparchia - I am not sure of the exact numbers but it sounds right. Yes they charge for warranty work in the marina.

Who gets charged? The boat owner or the company doing the warranty work? That is kind of strange....

They charge. Its in the contract. If their in house mechanics (Hudson Boat Sales) don't get the job at least they will make something. I believe the charge the company doing the warranty work.

There motto is if you don't like it then goodbye. I guess you can say that when you are full. Don't complain about it either or its goodbye as well.

Yesterday I heard that Tony at SPBM will not be launching the boats this spring.
Rumor has it they are bringing Gene in to launch boats and he is not available till April 15th. so no boats go in before then.
Anyone hear this also?

I heard something about this. I think they are afraid after they hit a few boats last year with the travel lift.

They did hit them taking them out last fall.

Not sure that is true but it sure does fit the facts of things I have seen. They damaged at least 3 boats that I know of and one required several thousands to repair.

And yet one of the owners was offended when I said I was wintering elsewhere because of Tony's inexperience with operating the travel lift.

Last I heard Gene was enjoying some well deserved R&R down in sunny Florida.

Gene is due back any day now. He was in Florida enjoying the retired life. Another problem over there is supposedly the lack of mechanic work. The schedules are messed up. People who requested to go in April 1st still do NOT have the work on the boats done yet. So regardless of the launching they are way behind on the mechanical work as well.

So Mr Kelly did an outstanding job fixing the service department I see! He told me that things would be so much better with his hands on involvement.

So SPBM can't provide timely service, in fact when it comes to diesels they won't even do the work but they have no problem demanding a 10% kickback from any outside vendors that come in that actually CAN do the work!

I really feel sorry for the long time mechanic at SPBM. The guy really knows his stuff and does a great job when they let him. One guy does not make a service department thou...

Hopefully the new owner will get things sorted out and make things functional.

Hey John, if that long term mechanic ever finds himself out of work let me know, maybe Mahopac Marina could use him - Charlie keeps talking about hiring somebody...

John,
If that's true about Gean coming to put boats in, that's great. For my boat there are inches between the travel lift and the arch. Gean is the only one I never worried about, In fact Tony told me he doesn't want to buy another arch. He hit my Friends, Fred's arch, when he forgot to open the arm. Fred, only winters with us, and hopes this will be replace before the boat is put back in the water. He would hate to put a lean on the property for the amount of the arch. To date, it has not been replaced. I for one, do not want my boat moved without me there. In the fall Bill, himself was present, when I expressed concern about hauling. When they hauled my boat, It went perfect, but if he wasn't there, who knows.
Looking foward to a great season less fuel prices.
I hope everyone has a healthy and safe season.
John, we are tweeking our new outboard, Thomas says "John, we will beat your a_s. John, my son has only 2 speeds, stop and balls to the wall.
He says "MOVE OVER JOHN, WE COMMING THROUGH"

Wayne, please tell Thomas I have retired from racing, undefeated! :)

Ok.. So I guess Wanye Corts has purchased SPBM (that 2 of 4 in his possesion). It only a matter of time now...

Until the closing, 4/17 I've heard, anything can happen. On a very positive note I heard Gene has accepted the offer to come back and manager again. He's had to work with both hands tied behind his back the last few years he was there and I'm sure he will do an excellent job bring the place back.

As for Wayne's building plans I guess your right Leigh, only time will tell.

Anyone going to the meeting this Friday? Do you think that's when they'll announce the sale?

I have heard that Wayne will be there and will tell us his plans for the marina. I am going to attend.
