SPBM

Already up there since 8:30. Was a little too cold. Finishing up the bottom paint. It might rain in the afternoon so if it does i will come to help!! :-)

Took a ride over to SPBM, and their work looks like its going great. Big dust bowl though

My friend just called me from Haverstraw Marina 19.2 feet under his boat at low tide

You need all that water after the 1/2 mile walk to your boats.

Your friend has about the longest walk in the entire marine! He must have been real excited to try out the new slip I watched him head out real slow look like he barely put it in gear while leaving but glad to see he made it safely!

When are you launching Wayne?

Water depth is like the lengh of other things. Anything over 4' is a waste to me. Only need 3'6". Good thing about that is we can recover most items dropped in. Now as far as other things we only need several inches and the fireworks go off. Haverstraw forgot to list the exercise walk everyday to your boat. No charge for that. Oh it wont be long!!!!

We don't walk every day to the boat, we stay and sleep on it the whole weekend. Then we usually spend nights in bowline, no walking there. Walking to the pool or to the restaurant is really not a bad thing! :-) yet again as I said before Dinghy!!! Lol. Any way with 4.1 draft we need more than 4 feet. Just a little more.

370 steps from land to my new slip.

When it comes a time a can't walk it, its time to sell the boat.

"When it comes a time a can't walk it, its time to sell the boat."

I have to agree this is not that big a deal of a walk! Frankly it's not much further then my walk was at SPBM granted I had the furthest walk there but it was not a big deal either!

Agree on walk. Walking is a great thing for most of us. If you have a whole bunch of stuff to bring down the dock boys are more then happy to help out. I was concerned about the heat of the docks on dogs but quite frankly it very rarely got that hot where it was a problem. I think that was blown out of proportion. (Not that, that would happen on BE) I plan on running a dinghy service this year to help pay for all of the new toys anyway.

Are you offering a seasonal pass or do have to pay for each ride?

As for the docks they do got real hot I'm not sure this is blown out of proportion it is something one needs to be carefull of on a hot/sunny day. I won't stress over it but be aware of it a least for the dog's sake!

Those docks get no joke hot!!! That's not overblown at all. I am the queen of bare feet, hate shoes, wear them only when I have no choice. By midsummer I can walk on practically anything. But those docks have burned the hell out of my feet more than once.

I have girly feet I can't walk on anything without shoes and when those docks are hot I doing a dance and running for a hose. I can only imagine how is must burn the dogs paws. If this is my only complaint about the marina I'd say they are doing very well!

Do not think for a minute that the hot docks at Haverstraw is overblown.

If you love your dog at all do not let him or her walk on the docks until you try the same thing barefoot. If you can't stand the heat neither can your friend.

We would stop at the top of the ramp and put boots on our 2 dogs feet every trip all summer long.

I have two dogs and no one cares more for their pets then me. I will restate my post. On hot days it is an issue and the best barometer is you in your bare feet. Having said that, there are more days that I can easily stand on the dock then not with no shoes on and have no problem letting my dogs walk on it. I would classify this as an issue that can be dealt with and think that if people post that they would not come to Haverstraw because of hot docks in my opinion, they are blowing the issue our of proportion.

The "hot dock" issue would certainly be a concern to me, but I wouldn't go to Haverstraw because the water is too deep.
