Spring Boaters Fling

What do you think of starting a list for the potluck dinner and restaurant signups? I can start one on a website where we can all have access to sign up or edit the list.

Is it safe to assume that the potluck would be Friday and the Garlic Bros dinner would be Saturday night? If it's that way, we wouldn't have to store the food an extra day and it makes for a casual social opener.

I can also add boat and RO lists so we'll know who and what boats will be arriving.

PS Does anyone know how to change the RO name on the BE site but not lose the RO number? Years ago I signed up as kalan2000, but am now known on many other boards as FlyWright. I sent Les an email a few months ago, but never heard back. I know he's a busy guy.

'fraid you are Kalan2000 until you can get Les to answer. He is the only one who can change an RO handle.
 
When you emai Les, make sure his last name, Hall, does not get dropped by the system. Be sure the address says To: Les Hall. Good luck! [I'd suggest emailing him again.

I like your idea to have the website, and I also agree Friday is the better night for a pot luck. Maybe some of you can provide BBQs and each of us provide our own meat as well as a side dish to share. If the weather is nice. If it is miserable outside, we might want an alternative such as making advance arrangements with the yacht club to use their facility at VWM. Just a thought. March is so unpredictable!

I've added the sign-on and password to the top of the page for easy reference.
 
I think this is becoming the best organized gathering of river rat ROs I've seen! I've invited Bill Wells, who writes the Delta column in the D & B Yachtsman to join us. Hope he and his Admiral can make it!

If I get time next week I will stop by Village West, and talk to the harbor master. I have seen clubs tape off betwwen the first two docks, and we can stern in. I think we can fit quite a few boats in there. I am able to squeeze in between the dock and the shore. I will probably get there early enough on friday to tape it off if they let us.

Ruby, I dont know if there is an inside, other that the Yacht Club which is a long way from the guest docks. Dvan said he might ttry to stop by and look.

It is really turning into a big group! AbsoLoot - They said no problem with a 48', BUT the old yacht sales dock is now long term rental and still full so we need to be sure to leave space on out docks. I like the idea of tying off some space because we will no doubt need to stern in.

The weather better cooperate! My flybridge is open - can't put full canvas on it because I love my slip but it is not too tall. I don't do rain well, but it looks like mother nature is getting it out of her system now! I'm on the boat now and it's been dumping aall day.

Village West's docks have been fairly full lately. There have consistently been 4-7 big boats there just about every time I've stopped by the boat in the last couple of months. There's some space at the docks, but not as much as you would think for this time of the year. The Marina does not have any areas you could have an indoor dinner in that I know of.

The Yacht club is not far as the crow flies (or by boat) from the guest docks, but is a LONG walk since you have to go all the way around the perimeter of the marina to get there. In the picture above, the guest dock is where the visible boats are, and the yacht club is the building on the other side of the entrance to the marina.
 
I didnt get a chance to stop by today, but will diffently "try" to get by there tomorrow. I would suggest that if all that are coming by boat please enter it in Al's web site so we will know how much space we will need.....
Only 25 more days....Think SUN and 70 deg weather.

I have tried a couple of times to sign your list but does not seem to like me! First time I got signed in, edited the list, but it did not seem to save. Another time, all I got was a blank page, no list.
I am comming with my Brother, Don Gibson, and we will do both the pot-luck and the dinner. I'm thinking of doing potato skins - twice-baked potatoes stuffed with all kinds of good stuff. To hell with the diet!

The first time I tried it today it said someone else was signed in editing the document. After that, all I got was a blank page, too. I'll try again later to see if it returns to life. If not, I'll start a new one. Maybe AbsoLoot broke it...his was the last data entered. Nice going, Dave!
 
I stopped and talked to Village West Marina. The two ladies in the office were very helpful. I told them that there were going to be around 10 to 12 boats so far. She told me that there was no problem in taping off the first set off docks to reserve them. She even offered me a free nights stay on Thursday if I wanted to set it up then. I will not take her up on her offer, but if anyone else wants to, let me know. I told her I may stop by late Thursday afternoon and tape it off. They didn't think the 48'er would be a problem either. They said they may have a couple of cones to put out. They also said that it would be OK to put tables or BBQs on the docks, they said all the other clubs do it when they are there......Also don't forget about Bobs for breakfast, it is next to Garlic Bros. They serve a killer breakfast, order the "MESS" its hard to eat it all. I usually get one and split it between my wife and I. I talked with the owner, he will be ready for us. That's about it for now......

Yea, I wonder who broke the web site. Dave was the last to post, but Jim said he got in, but couldn't save it. Who ever it was fess up.....
Jim, you can always start your diet tomorrow.
 
Seems to be working again. Let's hope it hangs in there. I've backed it up so we can recreate it if needed.

She is looking great - lots of work, but it's a labor of love! I'm on her now, have been since sunday and probably wont be able to get back over the hill until thursday - way to much snow! I just moved the TV to a swivel mount, rebult the head (ugh!), lots of fun stuff. You'll see. She is a great size boat and can't beat the cost. Maybe when I sell the company I will buy a bigger one, but she is one of the most comfortable 32' boats around, and she get's great gas milage to boot. Don't know if you know, but I put new weber carbs and electronic ign on the motors so she is super reliable, knock on wood! Great little boat!

I have a friend, Greg, who keeps his 30' Sea Ray at Tower Park [named Gr Attitude] who may be joining us. He'll sign up on the spreadsheet if he decides to join us! He is new to BoaterEd, so be gentle, guys.... :D
