Weekend weather

John......good....a n/w wind will help. High tide wasn't too bad this morning....just that low wasn't as low as I expected. But so far...so good.

How was high tide by you ?

Hey Dave...... John at (B6) just called me.....he was at the Anchorage checking on his boat....and the water is 2" from the top of the bulkhead.

It will probably come over and run into the street. Those poor houses there.
I am sure I will be fine, though my ladder under my boat may float away.

If anyone goes out, I would watch for floating debris, will be alot after this.

Don call me if u hear anything bad at the anchorge ... my buds in C32....

Im going down to my boat again... retied 2x ...

I was just down at the Anchorage making sure my flybridge cover didn't fly off (it's still there). Water is pretty high, docks there must be lower than mine. I still have a foot or so of bulkhead showing on my dock, and it has to come up a bit past that to reach the house so I should be okay. But I think some of the houses closer to the bay will definitely get water with 2 hours to go until high.

It's getting pretty bad in Merrick. As you all know, i was debating how to tie up my boat, and i'm very happy with the way I chose. I have enough lines five times over. I also put some tires around the boat. The only thing i'm worried about is the tide going too high, and the dock slipping off the pillings. Well, there's absolutely nothing I can do about that, so all I can do is wait...

I just came back from the marina.. high tide past... it was high... water into the parking lot....

The wind appeared to change direction aliitle .. making rollers from the south and slightly west.... BOATS ROCKING.....

I was happy to see alot people down checking on there boats for once....

Good luck to u guys in the east

Rob

I was down at the Town of Hempsted marina in Point Lookout around 1800...about an hour before high tide and the water was about 8 inches from going over the dock. Although the wind and wave action was miminal, I'm concerned about the tide still coming up past our high tide of 1850. The beach at point lookout was getting pounded with lots of erosion and water smashing up against the dune line. Out in Oakdale, The few boats I saw at Oakdale Yacht Club were getting battered up against the pilings with the stiff east wind. I guess we'll hear and see tomorrow how everyone made out.

High tide is about now........ high but not that bad. I thought it would have been worst.

........this was about 1 1/2 hours ago :

..........would have been a good time to wax below the rub rail.

Glad to hear buddy.....

Call me tomorrow after 2pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rob

It kept going up after the listed high tide time. Went over the dock across the canal from me but didn't make it over mine. Looks like it's starting to go down now.

I checked on the boat for the last time today in Merrick, (about a 20 mins drive for me), I went about 5 times. Tide was going back down, and all seemed well on my boat. I'll check on her in the AM before school (i'm a teacher). It looked real rough out there tho, but thank god we didn't get all the rain that they were sayin' we were gonna get!

Cheers!
Dan

Dan...... we're very lucky we didn't get what they predicted.....but better to prepared for the worst. .

Just got up to check on the way down......still a high low tide. Looks like maybe more of the same tides today.

Looks like tides are worse today then on sunday... not good ...

Rob

I just came back from trying to get to the boat the docks are above the parking lot and the water is 30-50 yards into the lot!
My boat is fine and as long as the docks stay on the pilings (3-5 ft) I will be OK

From the distance as was at it look like some of the docked boats were on jackstands in the lot ;-)

Dave
No answer from the Sag marina - I will try all day!
Update - got a hold of them and they said call back on thursday [:-banghead]

I was down in East Rockaway twice yesterday. Boat was taking the wind broadside and I tightened the doubled lines twice. Poles are pretty high so no worries there, but the boat was not reachable at high tide.

The yard guys were there at high tide last night and all boats were checked then and this morning. I'm told everthing is okay.

Hope you guys are okay as well.

This mornings high tide was worst then both highs yesterday.......water was about 3" from coming over the bulkhead into the yard......water was gushing up out of the catch basins.....and filling up the street.

First time I've ever had waterfront in back & in front of my house.

Hopefully its over for now.............

At the LIYC, the docks were completely covered, no parking lot and water way up both driveways. I was on my way to the railroad and decided to take run past the club. I wish I had boots with me to assess the situation better. I tied up the best that I could last night before the docks were breached with water.

This morning I was told a few water pipes went and water was shut off at the main building. Also, we may have lost power at the docks.

At work now hoping that all the boats are ok and we still have docks. What a way to start the season.

Don, I don’t want to be a pessimist, but I think tonight with the water not receding, we may have even a higher tide.
