SPBM

That old Tug was cool. He ran it all day tied to the dock and it did its job. I have't seen that Tug anywhere, where did it go?

If Wayne does what he says, the place will be great, and I'll be back for the 2014 season after all his construction is completed.

I would consider buying a condo on the water with a slip in my back yard!
I don't expect this to happen anytime soon maybe I can retire there.

Suggest you all take a ride along Beach Road before you put a downpayment on any structure along that coast. I feel so bad for those folks whose houses have been completely flooded and condemned. Stony Pt. should not let them re-build there - but who knows?

You also have to wonder if the town of Stony Point would even continue to consider allowing condos there now that the effects of a large storm shows that even emergency vehicles would have trouble getting through. Seems like a really bad place to allow a large cluster of people to live knowing you might not be able to rescue them in an emergency.

You are such a downer! This was a once in a lifetime storm! Should they not allow people to rebuild the NJ waterfront? Or should Brooklyn be abandoned? We do what we can the problem will be getting insurance to cover you!

I love the water but will never own water front property. One act of nature can take everything you have worked so hard for. I' ll rent.

"once in a lifetime"???? Remember Irene last year?? Beach road floods every time there is a high tide.

There is no good access for emergency vehicles if needed at SPBM - they can't fit under the RR bridge, and if beach road is flooded, they can't get through. Condos on SPBM would be a death trap.

They can come by boat! There are whole towns that are told to evacuate when there are storms coming this might be one of those areas. I like the idea of renting that is a good plan!

I'll stick with the penthouse idea. I agree that the town should look harder at this but in te end, money always wins. The town is starving for tax revenue. If they were to build, the obvious thing to do is build on stilts and have the ground level parking. Even in the worst storm this area has ever seen the water only rose about 4 feet into the parling lot. Devestating for our poor boats but a non factor if condo units were built properly. In evacuation, it actually is much easier then mostt waterfront communities. All you need to do is walk up to the railroad tracks. If the water goes up that high, we are all doomed starting with Indian Point.

No Dave I'm a realist with the ability to look at an issue from more than just how it effects me unlike some people I know. I'll go back to ignoring you now.

In all fairness Romer, you may be a tad jaded (justifed or not) when it comes to SPMB. :)

I agree Todd. We spend winter in a waterfront rental in Florida with my boat in the canal in back. I'll let someone else take the hit when the next storm comes through and it blows away.We would never buy down there.

That may be true Hank but I've never purposely tried to mislead someone about the place like others I know. (Not implying you are in anyway shape or form)

As for being jaded, I think being the victim of extortion might make anyone a bit jaded.

I always look forward to your posts on SPBM. It always makes for enjoyable reading. :) As soon as I saw the title of this thread I bet myself it would go to five pages. I personally spent 15 years there and was treated perfectly but I know you had your difficulties. I guess I picked a good year to leave. I rode the last hurricane out in the water there without incident. Even though I'm selling, I would have been devastated if my boat was destroyed. I've spent a lot of time keeping up with it and would not want to have seen her go down. I'm really happy for you that you weathered the storm.

Hank, I agree,
I have fun reading these posts also, its fun:
Some people talk bad about SPBM and then come for the weekend for free. Where else can you do that.
Who knows, if Wayne does what he says, maybe people will come back for the third time

You can't make this stuff up.

It's the only way I can make my money back Wayne. While SPBM may be the pits, I still have many friends there and look forward to visiting them, not the marina.

I Heard last week that they rejected Waynes plans build condos again. So hopefully he will do what he said with the marina.

Sadly I believe you may be incorrectly referring to me as to misleading others. A few years ago I was asked my opinion of the marina and whether or not I would recommend it as a family place. I honestly answered yes and you blasted me for it as if there was no way I could be happy there yet I was (as were many others at least on my dock). You insisted that I was lying as if I had something to gain.
To this day I don't understand what your issue was and why you got so upset about it!
