SPBM

I thought I heard that there was problems with the restaurant and that they would not be allowed to reopen. I don't know how bad the damage was but I am sure it took a beating from Sandy. Didnt they change the configuration of the docks. Can they still install 400. Just wondering. I would like to see them recover but it didn't seem like they were doing much to keep it running before. Perhaps new management and possibly new ownership will get them back on there feet.

The people who were at SPBM have been members at penny bridge for a while and said docks are not ready in some sections of penny bridge.

Agree, Dave, for the people who know him is a great person, but what can he do, or what has he done that is so special, to say, "Dave is back". Just lets see how long he lasts this time.

Sad to say, but you are right. PBM can't really use much of C or D dock until they get the pilings put in. If I was in the shoes of the people on those docks, I'd have to look elsewhere - perhaps even, dare I say it, (Haverstraw)...

But you would have deep water and music!

And transients using my power that the marina will bill ME for, hot metal docks, a 1/4 mile-long walk, a crowded parking lot, higher rates and no view...

OK. I have to weigh in on this one. I have defended SPBM for ever because I believe they were getting way more of a bad rap then they deserved. However, that add was very misleading and should not have been placed. They do not have a restaurant, they do not have 400 slips and it is not easy access. If I saw that add and spent one of weekend days coming to check out a potential new home for my boat, I would be quite mad when I arrived. They have a lot going for them but they are way off base here.

I agree the ad was very misleading. Don't know why they used it. I am not a member of management of SPBM, just a loyal patron of the establishment. I'm just trying to counter some of the negative comments I read. Why would they repair the north marina when it's not needed. It can be repaired eventually if someday 400 boatowners come looking for slips. In the meantime we have slips with electric and water now and the pool is open with new furniture.

Ken we have brand new electric including main switch gear and new water lines from main water. I say that is def. an improvement from old system.

Hah! I just dawned on me why the Haverstraw dock Mary's don't leave...

They are afraid that if they go out, a transient will be in their slip when they come back, using their electicity and pooping on their loud, hot docks!

We don't have problems like this down river...

All of the Channel Club's slips are operational. Just waiting for the fuel dock to arrive this week. These guys did an amazing job rebuilding the marina. Only thing not operational is Sallie T's.

Pool is open, 85 degrees on Monday, the Tiki bar was pouring drinks and giving free food out. Pool towels were plenty plus wash and fold laundry service is offered this year. Food delivery to the boats as well.

Plus the beach looks great now thanks to the US Army Corp of Engineers.

I don't understand how someone can say how great a place is only after 3 weeks. I would think it would take a season or two to make an opion of the facility to see the pros and cons but thats just me. I quess time will tell.

It's simple. Do you remember that old car you used to drive for 15 years? We'll now you just test drove a Mercedes and you just answered your own question, why did I not buy a vehicle like this sooner.

Excuse me Mr.Hogan but I was out yesterday and even stopped by the pond to say hi but for some strange reason you had left very early. Care to explain why without stretching the truth? Not sure exctly what time I came back to the marina as it was meaningless to me.

Yeah it just sucks being at a marina that is a resort. You guys are better off not being here... We would not want you to suffer like the rest of us!

I came back in because the tide was getting low, but being out there in the sun for four hours was a wonderful thing. BTW, I don't consider 4:30 on a workday night "early" to come in, especially when we had a BBQ planned at the marina.

Hey Mike remember when I went to my boat at Haverstraw one afternoon and the transient in the slip two wells down disconnected my cable line from my tower and hooked on his own.
I went up to the office to let them know and the then manager tells me he told the transient to do it because "you weren't there".

Lol....that manager didn't even last a year.
