I find that funny calling it a resort.

I find it funny calling SPBM a marina. I guess you never really go out on vacation much. You would then see what a true resort marina is like.

I've been all over the Bahamas, up and down the Florida keys, & Ft. Lauderdale many times on an 86'Yacht. Members of Ocean Reef club, up the entire east coast from Ft. Lauderdale to NY, Lake Ontario, Lake Michigan and have yet to see a true "Resort" marina in the North East. Closest would be Montauk.

Ocean Reef is a true resort marina. Boat Harbor, Treasure Cay, Bahia Mar (maybe), Atlantis, other places in the Abacos and Exhumas but not Haverstraw marina. Sorry. It has plenty of docks, ship store, restaurant, pool, but it's no resort.

The Channel Club is more of a resort than Haverstraw is. At least there are palm trees everywhere, great pool with tiki bar and the Atlantic ocean and beach 3 blocks away.

I was there when he left and still there when he came home. I was busy sanding my radar arch I'm tired of the bubbling paint! I was planning on having the yard touch it up during the off season but Sandy put an end to that. I started two days ago and it's going slowly but it will get done. I may head up tomorrow and do some more. I not working during the day being I have to work all night again.

After you get it sanded, what are you painting it with? Are you doing both sides?

About time someone ask serious questions!!!

We stayed at SPBM for all those years because of our friends, my kids loved there friends also. When the operation of the Marina started going down hill, and the services we paid for were no longer, we started re-thinking.

MOST OF OUR SAME FRIENDS ARE NOW AT HM, THE SAME FRIENDS THAT WERE AT SPBM, except for one which I am very sorry about, a great family.

We were a member of the SPBM resort for those years because of the people, not the Marina.

In three weeks we have had the pleasure of new friends, that are the best, our family grows!!!!!!!!

PBM must be a "resort" too!

We have a palm tree on our dock, a "tiki bar" on our boat, and a sandy beach 100' away!

Hank we will make up for it this weekend we can get 4 extra hours in before and after the tide.....Hmm tide, isn't that the stuff you use to clean your close?!

Four extra hours to sit at the dock...

Hogan it's all about choices we can come and go when want so if we want to go out at the last minute we don't have to check the tide clock in advance to make sure we can can back. If we are having such a good time at the dock that we don't want to leave we can do that too. If I decide to invite friends to the boat I don't have to consult the tide chart to tell them what time they have to be there and make sure they understand I can't bring them back to the dock until the next window of opportunity. That was very frustrating and always a concern in the event of an emergency I had no way to get home for work or health reasons.

The fact that I could spent a weekend at the dock and be happy speaks volumes about the marina and the company!

I guess when you are at HM you loose all track of time.... It's so relaxing.

Why won't one of you tell Mike the truth??? We wanted him to go in with his boat to Bowline first so he can give clerance and make sure there ate no hazard materials. Mike thanks for keeping our boats safe!!! We now can feel free going into Bowline :-)

I can spend a weekend at our dock and be perfectly happy, so I guess that speaks volumes about our marina resort and the family ownership.

Allen, you will notice a big difference to the entrance, but you'll figure it out, hopefully...

One day out on the water does not a boater make.

Make sure you get out by 10am on Sat or you cannot getout.

Sorry, drinks at the marina Saturday. Not sure anyone will be wanting to go out. Dave trust me when I say if we have an emergency, we will get in with no problem. Nice thing is we also know people will be waiting for us.

I agree with Hank, if you add all the un-useable hours at SPBM because of the tide issue, HM is less $$$$ tham SPBM

Butch two years ago I ran out to top off my tanks the night before a trip I know I was pushing the tides a bit but I tried to return about 2.25 hours before low tide and I ran aground over a 100 yards from the first marker. There was no way I could have pushed my way through without major damage! I had to back out and go to HM we called them told them of my issue and they were very nice and let me tie up until the tides came up. I was very happy to have a place to go I had two other people on board that needed to get home. That event was a major part of the reason I moved, it was clear then that I would have a big problem in the event of an emergency. I understand most boats don't draft what I do and this is not as big an issue but in my case and the case of at least three other boats in the area this is a problem.
Butch please understand I fully get why so many people feel compelled to stay where they are and that's great enjoy! I had the same mindset for years but I just had to move on and couldn't be happier that I did!

If everyone bought into the hype that HM was the greatest place we would all be fighting for a slip I don't want that so please everyone stay where you are and be happy! Those at HM will simply be happier:)
