Trojan 440

Here is the inside of our 440. I have removed the 26" TV and installed a 32" flat panel in the same opening with no modification. I just need to find an updated picture. I also have a flat panel on the radar arch and a 20" in the master state room. Thinking of a 55" under the garage... Only kidding.. I think!

Odvar,
I will PM you with my email.

Yes it was. Funny story, we happened to meet the original owners when we were picking up our Trojan. The broker had his friend transport the boat from the Thousand Islands to Albany NY. We cruised up to Albany with our Carver Montego we were trading in. When we arrived at Albany Yacht club we were told that Francey Free arrived. I said that cannot be as Francey Free was stuck in the lock in the canal with a sail boat and would not arrive till the next day. He said no, he is hear. We looked up and down the dock but we did not see our new boat. I spoke to the dock master and asked where they were, he pointed to a 56 ft sea ray sedan bridge. I said that was not him. The dock master said it was Francey Free, so I went down to look at the boat. Well the boats name was Francey Free. I found the owner and asked if they own a Trojan named Francey Free, and they said yes, with how did you know? I proceeded to tell them the story. It turns out they traded in their boat for the seat ray last year. They were traveling down to Florida from Michigan with their sea ray and had engine trouble and stop at Albany yacht club. So, long story short we had the past, the present, and future all together at once. We all had laughed when we were all together as we had a drink. If this is not good fate, I don't know what is. Oh and we picked her up on my birthday to top it off.

Thats a great story! I was on board from the first time it hit the water at the dealer for a shake down cruise. I might even have a picture of it somewhere a few boats down from mine on my dock.

I finaly got some shots of the boat and as you can see I have made a few changes. Now if I could get Bob's type of lettering and his mast I would be styling.I have a full camper top, however I had a new top made where I only have one bow, that way I can take all the canvas and the bow down in minutes and store it in the garage, where I also have a small freezer. Here in the NW the temp and humidity is very comfortable so we have an open boat most of the time. We spend several months on it in the summer, it's great. We also have a diesel fired heater that pumps hot water thruout the boat on chilly nights.
BTW, my son informed me that I was a few knots off on the speed (he would know)

Love the boat. A quick question about the wine bottles in that bottom draw. Is there any issue with hitting large waves and the bottles, especially the bottle necks, breaking?

I looked at flexteak but went with the real thing. First I used teak oil, looked great, however I had to wash it of afterone season, too hot and slippery! No problem with the wine, low in the boat and they dont stay there long enough to get brittle:-)

Odvar,
Great job on all the upgrades to your 440 ride. The stairs are a great idea especially for holding wine. Is your cockpit teak and holly or flexiteak. If it is flexiteak, does it get hot in the summer? I have been going back an forth with adding it to our's.

By the way I had a company in Germany create the illuminated name. It was approximately $3,000.00 and the mast was my design and built by PYI. I think it was $2,000.00.

Now that I would love to see. I found out we are the second owners. When we purchased it, the shrink wrap was still on the two mattress on the port and startboard side and the coffee make was never used. We purchased it with 250hr.

As I posted it's real teak outside and it's not too hot after I got the teak oil off. It was easy to install, but it is some work to clean it and any grease is a pain, I did find a protector made for teak patio furniture that works well. Downstairs I used a laminate floor. Interesting that your mast company is just a few miles from me, I may have to go and talk to them. your mast is super. The letters would be hard sell to the Admiral, she has different priorities, like the TVs,that was easy.
Has anybody done any work on aluminum cancer? Like on the arch. Pasco was hard on that one. I have a little and not looking forward to start on that project.

Those stairs are a great upgrade. Why the builder didn't do that in the first place. I don't feel comfortable on carpeted floating stairs.

Good luck with it.

I paid the $19.95

Looks like you paid extra for two day service. That's a nice looking anchor you got there:)

Odvar,
Sorry I missed reading that part in the thread regarding the teak.

Regarding the cancer on the aluminum. Here is some advise on painting aluminum.

I have the little sister to this boat. 2000 trojan express 360. Any ideals on replacing the black and gold stripe on the sidws. Mine is coming off in pieces. WHat would also be nice is the factory manual. One other question, we all have the same little switches for anchor lights etc. Those little name tags, any ideals on replacements for those?

Selby,
The switches/tags are made by Eaton, however Carver provided the information for the id tags to those switches. In the catalog it states that they have additional id tags at request.

I can give Eaton a call and see if they can create the existing tags for our dash switches. I was planning on replacing my switches/tags as well. Let me know if anyone else is looking to replace their switches/tags. We may have to order them together for the manufacturer to re-create the existing tags for the switches.

The switch specs are on page 104 of the catalog.

I'd be interested in the light-up switches.
